Check ourselves

Examine me, O Lord. . .; try my mind and my heart. (Psalm 26:2)
A teenager named Jimmy stopped at a neighborhood store. . .to make a call. The conversation went something like this: "Hello. Is this Mr. Brown? I was wondering whether you needed anyone to cut your grass. Oh, you already have someone? Is he doing a good job? He is? Are you sure you don't want to hire someone else? You're positive? All right, then. Thank you. Good-bye."
As the boy hung up, the owner of the store commented, "I'm sorry, Jimmy, that you didn't get that job." "Oh, don't worry about that," answered Jimmy. "I already work for Mr. Brown. I was just checking up on myself."
As believers in Christ, we too should check up on ourselves regularly.
