Fear the Lord

Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him. (Psalm 33:18)

William Cowper, though a Christian, had sunk [into] despair. One foggy night he....asked to be taken to the London Bridge.... He intended to commit suicide. After two hours of driving through the mist, Cowper's coachman...confessed he was lost. Disgusted..., Cowper [set out] on foot. After walking a short distance, he discovered he was at his own doorstep.... Recognizing the restraining hand of God and convicted by the Spirit, Cowper realized that the way out of his troubles was to look to God, not to jump into the river. With gratitude he sat down and wrote....: "God moves in a mysterious way His wonders to perform; He plants His footsteps in the sea, and rides upon the storm."
