Read His Book first

Your testimonies also are my delight and my counselors. (Psalm 119:24)

Several years ago, these words appeared on the cover of the Grand Rapids telephone directory: "Look in the book first." It was a reminder to check its pages for numbers before calling the operator....

Before we meet any challenge or seek the Lord's blessing on our lives, we should look fisrt in His Book for His direction and guidance.... O.T Gifford [suggested], "If you're getting lazy, read James. If your faith is below par, read Paul. If you're impatient, consider the book of Job. If you're a little strong-headed, go and see Moses. If you're weak-kneed, have a look at Elijah. If there is no song in your heart, listen to David."
