Wisdom > Knowledge
The Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come wisdom and understanding. (Proverbs 2:6)
An investment company's full-page ad in the Wall Street Journal began with these words: "Information is everywhere. Insight is all too rare. For insight goes beyond information to discern underlying truths."
Today, we are long on information and short on insight. Television offers scores of channels. Encyclopedias and world atlases are on compact disks. Online datebases give us the temperature in Hong Kong and the baseball score in Birmingham. We're wired and tired from trying to grasp the meaning of all we know.
Years ago, a friend encouraged me to read a chapter from Proverbs each day.... "You can get knowledge in college," my friend said, "but wisdom comes from God."
