The Mirror of Truth
We..., beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image. (2 Corinthians 3:18)
An African tribal chief...was presented with a mirror by a visitor. He peered curiously into the glass and commented on the ugliness of the person he saw. When he realized he was looking at himself, he became enraged and smashed the mirror on a rock....
God's Word [is] a mirror in which we can see ourselves reflected.... In our fallen condition we are spiritually ugly.... But when we are spiritually reborn...[and] look into God's Word, we see ourselves as God sees us--our ugliness...transformed into the beauty of Christ's likeness. And we grow in His likeness from that point on.
